Sumack Sacha currently produces 10-20 tonnes per year of ultra-high quality, sustainably harvested coffee beans. The agroforestry system we have put in place improves yields, which allows farmers to cultivate additional plants for extra income. It also reduces the impact of climate change on the local coffee production industry.
Through agroforestry, specifically by focusing on shade-grown coffee, our local community members have found they can generate income while keeping the forest intact, preventing land grabs, deforestation, and cattle farming that have destroyed so many millions of acres of rainforest.
